Ballyhoo!

It’s Monday again… don’t we all just LOVE Mondays? Mines been pretty shitty so far but one thing that’s making it a little better is music from one of my favorite bands:

No, for those of you in south Mississippi I’m not talking about that store that carries Vera Bradley and Yellow Box shoes on the side of 49N they are a band and a pretty damn good one at that. Defiantly way better than yellow box shoes. (Yuck) Ballyhoo! is a band out of Aberdeen, Maryland and they have been touring the last few years non-stop. I had the chance to see them but stupidly “had too many” and missed their show 2 years ago on 4/20. I curse myself every single day for that but the fact was I didn’t know who the hell they were at that time but now, well that’s a different story. These guys have gotten me through many, many miles running and lots of road trip miles driving. Their infectious sound makes me long for summer and doing nothing but having a good time with some good friends. They recently played with 311 & Slightly Stoopid on tour and they are two of my favorite bands if you throw in some Ballyhoo! talk about a concert I would have loved to seen. I can’t wait for these guys to hit it big it's only a matter of time, mark my words.

They are about to drop a new CD  and are currently on LAW RECORDS (how badass) and I am so pumped to get it! Check out one of my favorite songs (Paper Dolls) off of Cheers! I LOVE running to this song it pumps me up every. single. time.

The Statue of Liberty is in Alabama.

I'm sure everyone has those memories of childhood that stick with you for the rest of your life like the first day of school, singing achy breaky heart on the playground (what that was just me?), pushing a friend off of the monkey bars and breaking their glasses, being left at school all afternoon because you sister ran away and didn't come pick you up, and oh yea that day in First grade when the question was asked: "Where is the Statue of Liberty?"

I stuck my hand HIGH in the air with all the excitement building in my belly because I knew this answer! I was sure no one else did and I had to tell the teacher because even back then I demanded to be the favorite. To my happiness I was called on first and with a big smile on my face I proudly said, "It's in Alabama!" You can imagine my embarrassment when the whole class laughed at me and the teacher said I was wrong and that there was no Statue of Liberty in Alabama... the confusion I felt because I had SEEN it with my own two eyes many times driving with my parents up to Tennessee. I don't remember (or care) who gave the right answer of New York right after me I just remember my cheeks burning and the anger in my belly thinking that these people thought I was stupid. Well, you know what... Suck it first grade I finally have proof that the Statue of Liberty IS in Alabama! I don't remember who my teacher was but if you read this now you can email me an apology at socmajorgrl[A]gmail.com
On our way back from Chattanooga, TN last week we stopped in Birmingham, AL to take pictures with this thing. It has been apart of my childhood since that day in first grade and now I have proof of it and we also found out what the hell it is doing in Alabama. You see it is part of the Boy Scouts of America monument and is exactly 1/6th of the size of the real one (which Yes, that one is in New York) It was 200 degrees last Monday when we went but you have no idea how excited I was to finally get these pictures.

Hubs & I

Mom & I
(She absolutely loves this story & remembers me coming home crying because they thought I was stupid but she backed me up all the way!)

Staring straight into the sun

Another weird thing I remember about Birmingham growing up: Their McDonald's sold pizza.

What weird memories do you have from childhood?

Have you ever seen this Statue of Liberty in Alabama?

Foodgasims.

This weekend was spent on the road with my mom, husband, and our friend Drew. Drew hit on my mom the whole time which was completely ridiculous and provided many, many funny moments; however, not cool Drew.. not cool. We went to Chattanooga, TN for the hubs music showcase (which he rocked at) and then I wanted to go out after to our hotel bar called The Office. It was AWESOME. Their motto was "All Play, No work" Be still my heart! They also had the biggest pitchers of beer I've ever seen for only five bucks.
Morning after pictures:
Why can't Chad get the whole sign in the pic... why??

Okay, so neither can Mom.

Yes, it was a great time and my mom found a new drink to order = coffee with baileys... (really mom that's sooo 2005) the hubs also got to get up on stage there and play a few impromptu songs. That always leads us to having a great time. The hotel also had an AMAZING 24 hour diner attached to it. I swear I didn't even know this when booking and the rooms were so cheap but it was a Fantastic hotel pick. If you're ever going to to Chattanooga, TN stay at the Days Inn by the convention center. I wish I would have taken pictures of our food but alas I didn't. They have everything though..Mexican, breakfast, Italian, stir fry, chicken, beef, and the biggest deserts I've ever seen. The prices were cheap and the portions were HUGE.
Example A:
Sampler Cake

Example B:
German Chocolate Cake

Portions are HUGE:
Baklavah Cheesecake

Talk about heaven. I did pretty good though, I got a turkey burger and baked potato for dinner the first night and the next morning I got 1 egg & wheat toast combo. I resisted all cakes because I knew we were going to The Cheesecake Factory on our way back and I didn't work out all weekend so I had to hold myself back. I'm pretty proud of myself too..normally I would be ass deep in some chocolate cake.

Now on to the Cheesecake Factory!!!
Everything was amazing... I don't even have words. Thank God the closest one to me is 200 miles away because if it wasn't I'd be A LOT fatter.

Don't judge me there were 7 people in our party...I swear.

Mini Appetizers:
Crab balls (One is missing...wonder where he went?)

Fried Cheese

Mini corn dogs (There were four...lucky I got a picture!)

See! I told you there were seven of us.

Entrée
ONE Chicken Tender plate... I swear there were 15 strips

Club sandwich & Sweet Potato Fry's

Skinny Menu pick from Mom! Smaller portion burger & salad

Regular sized burger with Fry's (not pictured)

I didn't want a big meal so I got 2 sides Broccoli & Mashed potatoes

Desert's
We were celebrating Chad's Grandfathers Birthday and they brought him this cute little plate!

The biggest Strawberry Shortcake I have ever seen in my life.

My Heaven: Red Velvet Cheesecake

Moms Brownie Cheesecake masterpiece. This one took the "Cheesecake"

Excuse me while I have a foodgasim.

It was absolutely Fabulous. We left with a lot of Togo boxes and fully belly's. I have to toot my own horn again though because I left and I was not stuffed I was satisfied and that's been something I've been working on my body to understand. "Do not stuff yourself to oblivion, stop when you're full." It would be so much easier to do if food didn't taste so dang good.

What makes YOU have a foodgasim?

Have you ever been to The Cheesecake Factory?

Lady GaGa you Crazy.

I love her music and her voice.
I hate her stupid costumes and awful makeup.

Your new song "You and I" is Amazing...but when I saw the video I just sat there in complete amazement at how awful it was. WTF!? You don't make sense it's like the weirder you get the cooler you are... well I'm here to tell you in the "Real World" that shit isn't cool. It is insane and totally takes the shine away from your music and puts it on how big of a nutcase you can make yourself look like.

For Example:
Really...half woman/half robot AND you have no eyebrows... get over ya'self this is redic.
AND Why would a half robot/half woman be in the middle of a field in the first place?

Now your in S&M in a barn...a BARN. With ugly ass hair. Why blue? Are you sad? I'm sad Gaga... I'm a sad little monster after seeing this.

Now, you're a boy. Are you trying to confuse us because you pull this off a little tooo well.

Oh, and my personal favorite WTF moment... you're now a mermaid being bathed in a watering troff... In a BARN. Get the hell off that... how would a mermaid even get onto a Farm? There comes a point where you're creativity gets reckless. Please just release the music...no pictures, no videos, no visuals.

Just sing and put the Special Effects Makeup DOWN. Oh and stop wearing meat...did you even stop to think about the person that would have to clean your seat up after you left pools of blood from RAW beef on it. Yuck.

On a more positive note is it just me or would this song not be a good slow jam to get busy to.
I think it's the beat...
Listen and Enjoy OR Watch and Cry.

My 100th Post!

How sweet! this marks 100 times that you have had to read something I wrote!
I'll be serving you up another dish of warm and juicy Triple Tangent Tuesday to wet your appetite for more posts soon to come.

T. I never brush my hair. I have been terrible at this since I was little, once my father got so mad at me for not brushing my hair he sent me to school with knots and tangles in it and I cried all the way running into the school. I remember being in the bathroom with my teacher trying to get the knots out and saying my daddy hates me because I don't brush my hair. As I grew up this lovely fashion of messy, wavy, curls happened and my life became beautiful again. (No more crying in the bathroom for me!) I don't have to brush my hair anymore...just spray a little lot of hairspray, toss around, and viola! sexy hair. Now, I'm not saying I NEVER ever ever brush my hair...because when I wear it straight - naturally I brush it. But if its not straight... you can bet. I didn't brush that stuff.

I did recently purchase this gem to help me get over hating brushing my hair:

The Hair Bean

My product review: Pretty good but this thing wont last long...it's cheaply made maybe that's why I got one free. It does feel a lot better on my hair than a normal brush though - softer.

TT. I ran a 5k tonight after work (crazy I know) and got a PR accomplished! I came in under 40 mins at 38.40 - nothing worth getting a medal for but for me it was better than some stupid trophy. The run was absolutly amazing and I didn't even plan this 5k I went in wanting to make it threw 2 miles but I felt absolutly amazing so I kept going and then it turned into a 5k at a faster pace than ever!
Yay, accomplishment! Especially since this was my breakfast:

Granted it was only a small piece leftover from yesterday because I couldn't eat that monster in one sitting. Red Velvet Cheesecake = Heaven
Maybe I have figured out the key to my running!
Eating cheesecake for breakfast... gosh why couldn't I have figured that out earlier!

TTT. I don't like salads.
I like everything in a salad: cucumbers, lettuce, spinach, cheese, carrots, raisins, feta, Bacon bits, chicken, croutons, and I'm sure I'm leaving out other things but you get the idea. However, I hate them all mixed up together and I don't think I could ever eat that as a meal. I think it's because I like warm things mostly and I don't like the water from the green leafy option damping up everything else. I also am just not a fan of salad dressings, wondering why... because they are also cold. I like warm sauces...if it's cold I just feel like it needs to be warmed up. I'm a pretty weird eater and ya know what... screw it I'm not ashamed. I also can't stop spelling/writting the word bacon with two cc's, Get over it Terri there is only ONE damn C!

Do you have any picky eater habits?

What makes you run the best?

.:Happy Birthday:.

It's always nice to feel missed, wanted, and loved:

I'm Back guys!! I've been gone all weekend traveling all over the south and I'm trying to accept the fact that I am back at home again. The first stop on the trip was Clinton, MS where Chizzhad had a show on Friday night. My camera was left in the car by accident and being the extremely lazy person I am I did not go get it. (Don't judge me) That night was spent with HOSH and entailed searching for ice cream and watching G String Divas on HBO. We live really exciting fast paced lives and only watch the classiest of shows, as you can tell.

Saturday morning was spent in Jackson, MS with my Gran. We had breakfast and talked for a few hours (yes, hours) it was interesting though. She is 80 years old and full of stories that I've never heard of before. I'd like to think I learned a lot about her this weekend and getting to spend time with her always makes me happy. Saturday afternoon was spent with my mother... we went shopping and then went to my sisters house for a double birthday party for my sister and my niece!

Hot pink and black icing is always a great idea...

Cherish your family even if they are all crazy

Three generations

I'm really enjoying getting to spend as much time with my family as I can right now. I have to say I've seen them more this summer than possibly my whole college career. Life gets so busy sometimes that you take people for granted and I'm working on being conscious of that and soaking up as much time as I can. Even if they do keep me from running and make me eat birthday cake. (That's the worst) After the birthday party my mom and I headed down to Laurel (That dirty stinkin town) and caught the tail end of Chizzys coffee house show at Jitters. Then on Sunday morning we loaded up the car to head to Chattanooga, TN for Chad's Showcase (Yes, that is the 3rd show this weekend- can you say "Hustler") but that is going to be on the next blog because my husband just said, "get your nose out of that laptop." So, I have to go watch a movie now and then it's bed time because we have a date with the gym at 5:30AM to run off all the junk we consumed this weekend (more on that later as well) Sweet dreams homies!

Country Strong

I am in love with this movie. I am late I know but better that than never when it comes to this. This movie makes me like country, wait... LOVE country music. I know right... shoot me in the face? I can't stop myself. I feel like I'm cheating on my other music but then again I love any form of Good music. So... here it goes. I'm mostly in love with this movie because of him:

Ehh.. not so much here... but just wait for it:
Oh yes... and here:
Yummy Yummy Garrett Hedlund.
You're so pretty.

Oh and I figured out where else I knew him from after I google-stalked:
Oh, Tron
I'd go into that damn game with you. Anyyytime.

Oh, AND he sings... like that is him in the movie and even though I'm sure he didn't write this song... I'm obsessed and in love with it. Props to everyone else in the movie that I also like but you were all forgotten about once I fell in movie-love.

Here is a fan version with the words so you can enjoy it fully.
"Give in to Me"

Who are in in Movie-love with?

PS. I ran really good yesterday morning, and I'm going this evening as well. I'll do a running blog later and I'm going to do a favorite make up blog soon as well!

20 Something Blogger SWAP!!! Meet Abby...

Hi, I'm Abby and I am taking over Terri's blog for the 20 Something Bloggers Blog Swap! You can check out my blog >> A Geek Tragedy.

I am a wanderer; and when I was teaching summer was the time for my wandering to commence. Last summer I took a backpacking trip with my boyfriend through Belize and Guatemala, the summer before I spent in Ireland.

However, as a recently unemployed twenty-something I knew this summer would be different. Initially I mourned the fact that I would be stateside during the time of my typical sojourn. However, one thing this summer has taught me is that you can have fun in your own backyard.

Here are five things I learned during my summer vacation:

1. Go camping. Camping is cheap and (if it's not too hot) really relaxing. You can unplug, lay back and go swimming. If you can't find a good camping spot (or it's really hot), then just use your living room!

2. Roadtrips are not dead. Sure, with gas prices the way they are you won't be trekking cross-country any time soon,  but there are a TON of places within your own state I bet you have never really been. For example, we visited Austin, Mustang Island, and the Blue Lagoon (all less than a few hours away).

3. Dresses make every day feel special. Even on days when the only errand I had to run was to Wal Mart, if I put on a dress and some cute flats it made everything feel a lot nicer (not to mention more comfortable).

4. Sushi is the best summer lunch. I am a long time supporter of sushi, but when it is really hot there is nothing better than a cool avocado & cucumber roll! Search online to find the best sushi happy hour in your neighborhood, usually rolls and drinks are on the cheap at least one day a week.

5. Get some culture! Visit a museum, see a symphony, go to the planetarium, watch a play - there are great daytime discounts during the summer. Jared and I went to our first symphony this summer and it was amazing (and a great excuse to dress up).

And that's how I had the best summer ever.

Only in my Jeannnsss

It's another blog where you get to know a little more random information about yours truly!

T. I am in love with this commercial:
I can't stop singing it, I'm in love. I love Debbie Gibson and this totally makes me want to go buy some jeans at Old Navy. Well played Old Navy, Well played.

TT. I love to cook. I would spend all day in a kitchen whipping up things from scratch and enjoying eating them later if I could. By the way I HATE my kitchen. It is too small, ugly, annoying, and no matter how much Chad cleans it (because we all know I don't clean it) it's never clean! I can't wait to cook in a real kitchen, one where I can put all my appliances out and have actual COUNTER SPACE to use.

TTT. I remember when Facebook was only for those in college. I had just graduated from high school and was waiting to receive my student email from USM so I could create my account. Then about a year later (I think) they started letting high schools in, then everyone came through the door and now both my mother and father have one. I don't so much as mind them because they aren't nosey but God Facebook sucks now due to the nosey family members who I shall not name on there. By the way if you are reading this you should be ashamed of yourself and stop gossiping so much. I miss the days of poking and wall remarks filled with party announcements and the latest break/make ups going on around campus. The days where if you were tagged in a terrible drunk picture from the night that you don't remember, you don't have to worry about nosey family members seeing it and trying to put you in AA the next morning. The days where you didn't have to accept people on Facebook but now that your family is on there you can't just keep ignoring them or they WILL ask you at the dinner table on Easter "why you aren't friends yet."

Also, be sure and check my blog tomorrow for a special Guest post by my partner from 20something bloggers 2011 Blog Swap!

Workout: Will be running bright and early tomorrow morning - had a really good run/workout both Saturday & Sunday and ready to go again tomorrow!
